Starting a business is something fascinating but also scary and sometimes frustrating. You have a business idea. You take the first step of your business idea registering the business, get the EIN, start your website, business cards, social media pages, and everything is very exciting. Then... it comes the time where you need to get clients. Here is when the breakdown and self-doubt start. The famous Entrepreneurs Breakdowns. Then these questions start to pop up in your brain: It is my business good, Am I good? Why I came with this crazy idea? Why people don't want to schedule a meeting? and the list goes on and on... The reality is that YOU are good enough, but your self-doubts are sabotaging the whole business and also your personal life because, as human beings, we tend to bring all that frustration to our home. Big Mistake!
Doubts are the dreams silent killers. Now you are stuck in your breakdowns and self-doubt, and you are transmitting that energy to your clients, and guess what? They can sense it. No one wants to do business with someone who doesn't believe in his/her own business! No one!
You can destroy these doubts by creating a supportive community. Your family and friends can become your board. They can tell you your strengths and also the areas that you need to improve. It would help if you also stopped comparing your business with other businesses. You can do a competitor analysis so you can create your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) and be UNIQUE! You can offer similar products and services, but instead of wasting time on social media punishing yourself, you must use that time to think of a solution for your clients. Keep the main thing, the main thing.
I have a ritual every morning that helped me with all these doubts. I wake up every morning at 6:00 am (Mon-Fri), I do 1 hour of exercise, after that, I take a shower and get ready. In the meantime, I listen to a motivational podcast or an audiobook in Audible ( Here is the link for Audible Pus: https://amzn.to/3qyProL). Trust me on this one (I will publish some of my fav books soon). I have breakfast with my husband, and we use that time to talk and have a pleasant time. After that, I wear my badass hat.
You can get frustrated sometimes, but you have to get up, have a 15 mins walk, drink some water, talk to a friend and come back to work. You need to do that!
If you receive an email that made you upset, DON'T REPLY IMMEDIATELY. Once you throw your words out, you can't take them back. Take your time and reread it 1 hour later and analyze if it was really what you read in the beginning and reply without any emotions. Be objectives. This is business, it is not a feeling contest. Don't take it personally.
